We’re here…the holidays are upon us; and now more than ever is the most critical time for our conveyor systems to do their part. And to do so with ease and efficiency. Keeping your conveyors moving during your busy season should be relatively easy if you follow a few key simple conveyor maintenance tips.
Holiday Maintenance Tips
He’s making a list…Prepare a checklist of items on your conveyor system to review daily, weekly and monthly. These items can include, but are not limited to, a check of the motors, reducers, and belt alignment, lubrication of roller chains, or electrical wiring and controls.
Checking it twice…A visual inspection is key to discovering any unusual noises or visual cues that warrant attention. Check for overloaded conveyors or any safety concerns that need to be addressed. If you discover any areas of wear and tear on the conveyor system, respond to them. A well performed conveyor is one that is well preserved with routine maintenance.
He’s gonna find out who’s naughty or nice…When you don’t take care of your conveyor, you run the risk of a breakdown. Depending on the root of the problem, the speed in which it can be repaired can be unpredictable. That is where a comprehensive stock of spare parts come into play. To avoid a shutdown of production and to minimize downtime, stock the most critical spare parts in your distribution center.
The holidays are here, and with each New Year, the importance of preventative maintenance must not be overlooked. The most efficient and cost effective way to run your daily operations is to perform preventative maintenance on your material handling equipment. Give your conveyor system the gift that keeps on giving—implement a regular maintenance to extend the life on your conveyors.
